The Budget Collector wishes you a happy and healthy New Year, Feliz Nuevo Ano (sorry, I dunno how to do the tilde) and a wonderful 2012.
The one promise that I will make is that I WILL post more in 2012 than I did in 2011. Obviously I'm not into this blogging thing on a regular basis, but I should strive to do one at least once a week, if not more often.
To that end here's some budget tips for after Christmas Shopping:
Don't be too disappointed if there's nothing left on the shelves. I've been to several local Targets and TRUs after the Christmas holiday and noticed a distinct lack of everything fun and collectible. Which means that their buyers are getting a lot better at actually supplying the buyer's demands. For our budgets this is bad, as the after-Christmas sales are fewer and farther between. For the economy, this isn't that bad though, and we should all be happy with a more stable economy.
One item I do want to mention is the former exclusive 7 figure GI Joe Resolute sets are now $16.99 at ROSS. Also the TRU exclusive Spirit and Quick Kick single figures have been seen there as well. I haven't PERSONALLY seen them, but there are reports from all around the country.
Finally, here's our New Year's Eve Fun.
Do you collect comics, toys, sports memorabilia or other general nerdy stuff? Are you on a budget like the rest of us? Are you looking for deals, steals and information? This is the place

Redstitch's Recycled Angels
No not those kind of Angels - the Christmasy kind. Last year my lovely wife Redstitch came up with a nifty crafty project that we gave to some friends and family. This year we decided to do a bigger batch and put them on Etsy. Who knows, maybe they'll become the next Cabbage Patch Kids or Beanie Babies. One could only hope.
I kid I kid.
But not really.
In 2010 we made 8 total figures and gave them to friends and family. This year we're making a total of 25, and numbering and dating each one so they retain their collectibility.
Buy 'em here - and if you mention that you saw it on my blog we'll rebate 10% of your purchase price!

So When Do You Think the First Cards of Pujols as an Angel will hit?
I'm guessing there will be an airbrushed card in Topps 2012 Series 1. This is the best news that Angels fans could get today - signing BOTH Pujols and CJ Wilson, creating a log-jam at 1b that you LOVE to have. The Halos aren't done either, I would expect Kendrys Morales to get packaged now, but you never know.
2012 is going to be an exciting year!
