Superbowl XLIX - New England 28 - Seattle 24 -Final

Russell Wilson makes a terrible mistake on the goal-line after one of the best circus catches ever.  Game over man.  Game over.

Brady joins Terry Bradshaw and Joe Montana with 4 victories.  Of course it took Brady 6 games to get 4 whereas Bradshaw and Montana didn't lost any big games.

But does it matter?  Brady's a first ballot HOFer now.

Nice fight at the end.  Looked almost like a hockey game.

Superbowl XLIX - New England 28 - Seattle 24 -2:02 4th

They just won't go away, Seattle with the two minute drill for the championship.  Let's see who can take it>?

Superbowl XLIX - Seattle 24 - New England 21 -7:55 4th

It's still a close one, that's for sure.

Never count Brady out...until there's 00s

Brady now has another Superbowl record - 12 TDS in a career

Superbowl XLIX - Seattle 24 - New England 14 -15:00 4th

Going into the 4th quarter I really don't see how New England can come back.  They're down 10 and the offense isn't going anywhere.  Meanwhile the Seattle big two are taking advantage of the New England D.

What is this Superbowl Rally?

Grubhub's flying burrito was funny.  I'm really tired.

Superbowl XLIX - Seattle 24 - New England 14 - 4:54 3rd

Patriots looking awesome once again on offense until Brady is picked for a second time and Seattle takes over at the 50.

The Shawks offense is really clicking now.  Beastmode goes for 14.  Wilson for 8 out of nada.  Baldwin with the easy catch in the end zone and all of a sudden the team from Seattle is looking might good.

Superbowl XLIX - Seattle 17 New England 14 - 11:09 3rd

The Seahawks come out of the locker-room like a house-afire.  Everything is clicking on offense, Beastmode has done his thing, Chris Matthews did his, until third and 1 on the New England 8, and they settle for a field goal.

Commericals:

Clash of Clans - Angry Neeson was awesome.  Best one of the night.

Superbowl XLIX - New England 14 Seattle 14 - Halftime

Well with 6 seconds left, a 1st and 10 on the New England 11 CheateyP elects to go for one more play, and by god he caught the ball.  That was an excellent half of football.  Who would have thunk the game might actually be good this year.

Superbowl XLIX - New England 14 Seattle 7 - 0:31 2nd

I will not be blogging the Katy Perry halftime show

Brady runs the 2 minute drill about as good as anyone else ever.  That said, clock management isn't something that's taught in the NFL. Hustle isn't a word that I think of when I think of pro football players.

Julian Edelman is smart he runs out of bounds....

Just like that Gronk catches one just out of the reach of Wright, and it's 14 - 7.

Superbowl XLIX - New England 7 Seattle 7 - 2:00 2nd Commercials 09

Pats cooking again after the kickoff.

Fiat - Blue Pill - another non-Dumb DCC.

GoDaddy - They pulled the Danica Patrick ad and aired this instead.

Discover - I hate these ads.

Superbowl Commercials 09

McDonalds - Pay with Lovin' - really>?  Well...hunh.

E-Surance Breaking Bad - would have probably been more interesting to me if I had watched the actual show.

Sheesh, that stadium is wow...

Superbowl XLIX - New England 7 Seattle 7 - 2:16 2nd

Celebrity Round-up - hey that new guy who just did that song with Kayne is there.

Hunh, that was only the 2nd flag in this game, and it's the 2nd longest time in a game where a penalty was accepted.  Or was that something about the Seahawks incompletion streak.

The Seahawks got a first down.  Hallelujah.

Chris Matthews with a heck ova catch for 44 yards - 1st and 10 at the NE 11

Lynch powers in from the 3....Tie game

Superbowl XLIX - New England 7 Seattle 0 - 7:07 2nd Commercials 08

The pats finally go 3 and out with a deflected pass and a bad incompletion.

Nationwide's kids commercial was depressing.

weight watcher's ad made me hungry.

WeatherTech's ad was what it was.  I actually saw this the other day when the news was following up what was on the big game next year.

Superbowl Commercials 07

Doritos on the plane's joke was way too easy.

Nissan Cat in the Cradle wasn't a stupid DCC at least.  Blatantly tugging the heart strings though.

Superbowl XLIX - New England 7 Seattle 0 - 8:05 2nd

Wilson STILL doesn't have a completion.

It's all Pats right now.

Superbowl Commercials 06

Coca-Cola Happy Virus is cute, but mostly boring.

Animal Draft - Avocados was clever.

DIG on USA - OK it's a young-adult novel/movie TV series.  All righty then.

Kick off.

Furious 7 is the name of the latest actioner from the venerable franchise.

I've seen this Daddy commercial before.

Superbowl XLIX - New England 7 Seattle 0 - 9:47 2nd

Gronk pushes off but can't make a spectacular catch in the end-zone.  Edelman catches a bullet over the middle on 3rd and 9 for a 23 yard gain, and it's 1st and 10 from the Seattle 12.

The first Touchdown is caught by LaFell from Brady and the Pats are on top.

Superbowl Commercials 05

Budweiser's sequel to the Puppy commercial would melt even The Grinche's heart.

Nationwide's Mindy Kaling spot was really clever.

Terminator: Genisys looks great, but dumb name.

Superbowl XLIX - Seattle Seahawks 0 New England Patriots 0 - 13:57 2nd

And the Seahawks still don't have a completed pass.

Tight game

Superbowl Commercials 04

So far we've had voice overs by Muhammad Ali and JFK today.  What famous dead person is next?  My vote is Ghandi.

Carnival Cruise Lines' ad was silly.

Skittles Arm Wrestling Town is adorable.

Lexus DCC

T-Mobile's Kim Kardashian ad was..well...it was.

Superbowl XLIX - Seattle Seahawks 0 New England Patriots 0 - 15:00 2nd

Jeremy Lane who just intercepted Brady has his arm in a brace.

Russell Wilson scrambles and makes 7 out of a sack.

Beastmode gets a quick first down and trots off - pass play upcoming.

Wilson had forever in the pocket and scrambles for a couple and the quarter is over.

Wow.

Superbowl Commercials 03

Have to say "Minions" looks fun

Danny Trejo and Steve Busemi in the Brady Bunch.  So far, that's definitely the #1 ad.

If you care about such things.

Superbowl XLIX - Seattle Seahawks 0 New England Patriots 0 1:50 1st

Patriots offense is starting to cook three first downs in a row and all of a sudden they're in the red-zone.

Seattle's defense is not looking very tough right about now.  Brady starts off the game with 9 out of 10 completions.

But on 3rd and 6 we get the first BIG play of the game - Lane picks off Brady at the goal line.  WoW.

Superbowl Commercials 02

I don't care how hot she is, that game still looks stupid.

Disney - Tomorrowland!  Really looking forward to this one from the House of Mouse.

BMW i3 with Bryant Gumbel and Katie Couric was cute, though I really wonder if that was 21 year old footage or if it was faked.

Superbowl XLIX - Seattle Seahawks 0 New England Patriots 0 - 9:20 1st

Seahawks on offense get stuffed on a third and 2, Beastmode gets nothing and they'll have to punt.

Superbowl Commercials 01

Our first commercials is a DCC - a dumb car commercial.  For the Toyota Camry - it has a Muhammad Ali monologue over a typical car commercial.  Stupid.

TurboTax's Boston Tea Party reenactment was pretty funny I have to say.  So far, one out of two isn't bad.

Superbowl XLIX - Seattle Seahawks vs. New England Patriots -

Brady's 6th Superbowl.  Patriots get the game's first first down but then gets stalled on a 3rd and 6.  Pats to punt and we'll get our first batch of commercials.  They look like they want to establish the run game, and the pass game is not great thus far.

Seattle's Ball after commercials.

Superbowl XLIX - Seattle Seahawks vs. New England Patriots - KICKOFF

Beauty shots of the Grand Canyon, the stadium and Hoody (purple).  Hauscka with the kick

They catch Beastmode eating some Skittles on the sideline.

Return to the 17 and we're game-on!

Pats on offense.

Superbowl XLIX - Seattle Seahawks vs. New England Patriots - COIN TOSS

Superbowl ads cost on average $4.5 million per 30 seconds this year.  I notice they made it clear that's "average".  I guess some ads will cost way more than others.

Announcing today we have Al "YES" Michaels and Chris "yes I used to play" Colinsworth.  Michaels is a class act as always, and he's a Kings fan as well.  I remember when Colinsworth played, and again, I feel old.

"Now it takes a small village" line from Michaels is great.

Coin Toss time - honorary captains, Kenny Easley of the 'hawks and Tedy Bruschi of the Pats.

Seattle wins the toss and DEFERS to the second half.  IN a game like this where Defenses are going to be the big "it" factor, that's pretty darn smart.

Kickoff shortly.

CheateyP interview.  No bulletin board material.

"The Legion of Boom" is hurt.  They're all hurt at this point.  This is both teams 19th game not counting the 4 pre-season games.  These guys are all-sorts of busted up.

Dang Jurassic World looks awesome.

Superbowl XLIX - Seattle Seahawks vs. New England Patriots - National Anthem

The Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award goes to Thomas Davis of the Carolina Panthers.

Wow, Sweetness died in 1999, how sad.  I remember watching his entire career.

Moment of Silence for Ann Mara who died this morning.

John Legend at the piano singing "America the Beautiful"  He's no Ray Charles, but it's pretty nice.

Ah yes, brings me to a moment of clarity: hereafter I will refer to Coach Caroll as CheateyP and Coach Belicheck is theHoody.

There's some flags there.  Do you have a flag?  No country, no flag.  Oh it's one BIG flag, and here comes Idina Menzel.

A true diva moment...in the opening line!  Hold that beat Idina.

Superbowl XLIX - Seattle Seahawks vs. New England Patriots - Pre-Coin Flip

The Mountain Dew Kickstarter commercial is QUITE disturbing.

I like the bumper showing the Programs, Flip Coins and the Ticket Stubs.  Now I have never actually BEEN to a Superbowl.  I suppose that's one thing on my bucket list.

Introducing the New England Patriots starters, pretty cool they let every starter say their name.  No Bruins on the Pats I think.

Seattle Seahawks introductions and I had to rewind a bit to figure out what Russell Wilson said: "I'm from a whole pack of badgers".  I heard two "the" blah-blah University, but no THE Ohio State.

The Pats come on the field to Ozzy Osbourne?  OK then.

Seattle comes out to Bittersweet Symphony.  What does THAT say?

Coin Flip up next.

Superbowl XLIX - Seattle Seahawks vs. New England Patriots - Pre-Game

XLIX  -10 + 50 + - 1 + 10 = 49

Go figure.

Today's contest is between two teams with the same 14-4 record.  The Defending Champion Seattle Seahawks coached by Cheatey Petey Carroll and the New England Patroits coached by proven cheater Bill "Hoody" Belicheck.

I honestly don't care who wins the game, though I suppose I'm rooting more for the Seahawks than the Patriots.  The cliche goes "I just want to see a good game."  That sounds about right.

We're just about 28 minutes away from Kickoff.  Our Pizza is scheduled to get here at 4 pm.  Welcome to my yearly Superbowl Live-Blog.

Live Blogging the game - YES!

I will continue my yearly tradition of curmudgeonly live-blogging the game starting sometime after 3 pm PST today.  I have no real horse in the game tonight, I really don't care who wins, though I suppose I'm slightly inclined towards the Seahawks.  I'm really just hoping for a good game.

In honor of the game, I bought some packs of Hockey cards yesterday, and a nice older lady was selling the store some GREAT cards, including two Jordan rookies that look like they could get 9s when grade, and some beautiful original Mars Attacks cards.  Their new employee (actually I don't know if he's new to be honest, I just hadn't seen him before) is also a blogger and recognized my last name when I handed him my credit card.

See here's the thing though, I bought 25 bucks worth of wax and pulled exactly one LA King, and basically nothing worth 25 bucks.  These are times when I wonder why I still buy wax at all.  Then again I remember I have a thing about buying singles that cost more than $10, which is why my set of double jersey cards from last years' Black Diamond (the Kings got a 4 card set-within-a-set that makes up the Kings Logo) is one card short (I need the Jonathan Quick if anyone cares and it's currently on the bay of E for exactly 10 bucks).

And yes, I realize I bought Hockey cards instead of Football.  I haven't collected Football since Barry Sanders retired.  Probably won't ever pick up a recent pack either.  Just no longer interested.  Now if Los Angeles gets the Rams back, maybe, just maybe.

We'll see.  I'll touch on these and other topics later today.  For now I have to get ready for Girl Scouts and figure out how to sell all these GIRL SCOUT COOKIES we have.
